Hugo Paul – Principal

Prior to entering the law Hugo qualified and worked as a commercial and residential property valuer. Hugo was admitted to practise law in 1998.
Before re-forming Paul & Paul Lawyers, Hugo was Special Counsel and Head of the Wills & Estates Group at LHD Lawyers in Sydney and Special Counsel at Mills Oakley in the Sydney Private Advisory and Family Law Teams for 5 years. Hugo was previously a Family Law Partner in the original ‘family’ firm Paul & Paul Lawyers for 10 years.
Hugo has substantial experience Wills and Estates, contested Probate and Succession Act (Family Provision Claims) and Succession Planning. He also has extensive experience in the area of Family Law (Property settlement and Parenting disputes, De Facto relationships and Alternative Dispute Resolution).
Hugo has extensive litigation and advocacy experience.
Hugo holds a Bachelor of Applied Science Degree from the University of Technology, Sydney, an Honours Degree in Law from Bond University and a Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice from the College of Law, Sydney. He also holds a Graduate Diploma of Applied Corporate Governance from the Governance Institute of Australia (formerly Chartered Secretaries Australia). Hugo is an Associate member of the Governance Institute of Australia (AGIA), and an Associate of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (ACIS).
Hugo is also an Accredited Collaborative Lawyer. He has served on the New South Wales Young Lawyers Family Law Committee and is a member of the Law Society of New South Wales and the Family Law Section of the Law Council of Australia. Hugo currently holds an Unrestricted NSW Practising Certificate.
Hugo’s great joy when not practising Law is spending time with his wife and three children.
